Measures to Support Non-Chinese Speaking Children

  • Our school provides circulars in English so as to support non-Chinese speaking parents’ communication with us.
  • Our school maintains communication with parents during the regular children drop-off and pick-up time.
  • Arrangements are made for teachers to take part in professional development programs so as to build strategies to help non-Chinese speaking students learn Chinese.
  • A rich Chinese language environment is set up in order to expose non-Chinese speaking students more to Chinese language.
  • The lessons are designed with touch-and-talk pens to enhance the interest and self-learning capability of non-Chinese speaking students.
  • Non-Chinese speaking students enjoy the opportunities to learn together with Chinese speaking students so as to promote peer learning.
  • Relevant teaching contents are adapted and the individual support is also provided to meet the different needs of non-Chinese speaking students.
  • A diversified culture and inclusive education in campus are constructed to promote integration of students.
  • Our school also places emphasis on the emotional and social development of non-Chinese speaking students, with resident social workers providing counseling and support to students in need.

School social worker

School social work service is available in our kindergarten. Various supports and social services, including parental workshops, family games, consultations, counselling and referral services, are provided by the Church of United Brethren in Christ Social Service Division at school. Besides, individual counselling, language development aid, game therapy and support for needy families are also available.

Pre-school rehabilitation services

To support our students with special needs who are waiting for pre-school services provided by the Social Welfare Department, SAHK’s “FunLearn” programme can arrange educational psychologists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and special education teachers to provide on-site services.
